Coastal Carolina University has announced that 814 students made the President's honor list for high academic achievement for the 2017 Fall Semester. To qualify for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average and must be enrolled full time.

Ten Coastal Carolina University students received the President's Award for Academic Achievement, which recognizes students with the highest cumulative grade point averages. The recipients of the award all had perfect 4.0 grade point averages, graduating summa cum laude.

Congratulations Silver Medallion Winners! To qualify for inclusion, students must have completed at least 30 hours at a University of South Carolina campus with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00, and have achieved a 3.5 - 3.94 grade-point average for the Spring 2017 semester while being registered for 12 or more hours on the Sumter campus, of which at least six hours must be USC Sumter courses.
Coastal Carolina University's held commencement ceremonies for an estimated 1,145 candidates for graduation May 5 and 6, 2017, at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center on campus. In her remarks to Coastal Carolina University's Class of 2017, commencement speaker Amber J. Campbell encouraged graduates to be true to themselves and their own course in life instead of relying too much on conventional wisdom. "Don't listen to 'they,' because 'they' will tell you all kinds of things," said Campbell, an Olympic athlete and 2004 CCU graduate. " 'They' don't always have your best interests at heart. 'They' will try to talk you out of your dream. 'They' will tell you that what you're pursuing doesn't make sense or that the career you chose is too obscure. Meanwhile, you might end up a three-time Olympian and travel the world!"

Eighty-seven students at Coastal Carolina University were recently inducted into the campus chapter of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. The annual induction was held in the James J. Johnson Auditorium, and 55 students participated. Professor Maria Bachman, chair of CCU's Department of English, delivered the keynote address at the event. Membership in this prestigious national freshman honors society celebrates outstanding academic performance after the completion of one full
